Vintage cans

So the blogs from now on will only be when I am doing a new project. I spent all week trying to find my work bench and organize the supplies my mom donated. While taking a break and cruising Pinterest I was reminded of these vintage tins that I had saved. I had found 4-5 different versions and ways to make them. I, as always, combined several of them to make it work

My mom found this old book at a thrift store.

First, I picked out the pictures I wanted to use.

Then I painted my cans. Some colors took a lot of coats. Let then dry really well between coats!

If you have any sharp edges, just use a pliers to flatten it out.

After the first coats.
I didn't get a picture of me gluing them on.
I also used chalk pastels to age them, but you could also use brown shoe polish!
Here they are finished. I just need to buy a clear sealer to put over them!

Saturday in the Hills

Started the morning off sleeping in!  Well an extra hour any way.  Started the morning off with a great view of Mount Rushmore from our house!  Little blurry, sorry!  I had to zoom in, we don't exactly live close!

On Facebook today I am sharing some great places to shop here in Rapid City!  I can't pass up the chance to share them with you!  A friend and I "ran away' from home last weekend and these are some of the places we ran too!

First up is Serendipity!  We saw some great things here.  There were some cute boot socks with lace on the top, bags, key chains, clothes, wall decor, and so much more!  We were told that the inventory is constantly changing so make sure you keep checking back!  I didn't see this shirt below when we were there-wish I had!  This is just to give you an idea of some of the style they sell!

Next up is one of my new favorites and I plan to head back as soon as possible!  ELan's Vintage Boutique is a great little shop!  Don't let the size of the shop fool you, it is FULL of great finds.  We asked where some of the things came from and they are all hand picked on trips that they have taken, some of which are from Denver.  They do all the upcycling on some of the clothes themselves.  There are great handbags, shoes and jewels as well!  Here are some great hats!

Photo: Slouchy beanie hats! $14.95 each. :)
I love this picture from their Facebook page!  Mostly because my friend and I commented on that phone!

Photo: Beautiful Kate modeling this one of a kind vintage dress size s/m excellent condition! $40

Next is Shaviq Designs!  I will definitely be going back to Shaviq!  It is a great place to get inspiration and ideas!  This shop has got to be filled with Muses from all over the Black Hills just waiting to grab you and shake some sense into you!  If you aren't the do it yourself type, but love great pieces this is the place to go as well!  We were told that they feature 70 different artist and the owner herself was sitting in middle of the shop creating yet another great piece!

This is one of their new designs!  Branches!

They are also having a $25 clearance and they ship! If the link doesn't work, go to the one above and scroll down.  They have other clearance prices as well so take some time and look around!

The other amazing place we visited was Suzie Cappa Art Center.  This is a place for people with disabilities to create something great.  They also have local community artists that donate work!  This is a must see if you are downtown!  Take the time to walk through the art gallery and browse all the great projects and pieces they have for sale.  You can also check out their Facebook page for more information.

TGIPF (Thank Goodness It's Pinspiration Friday)-Vintage Edition

That's right folks we made it!! Now that you are excited for the weekend let me ask you this-how many of you have plans?  Not going to be a schedule free weekend here!  My husband has his Unit party tonight and I have babysitting.  Kids have catching up on school work and mom's list of chores.

Oh well, hopefully I can fit in some cross stitching and wrap up this big project I have been working on for a few years now!  Will you be able to fit some crafting or a project of some sort into your schedule?

Okay, onto the fun stuff!  As always the pictures will be linked or have a website with them to where I found them.  I own nothing unless noted.  All pf these were found on Pinterest, but I have linked you to either there or the websites they come from.  So, go find something new and get lost in something old and by the end your eyes will hurt so bad you will be seeing blue (hopefully not the blue screen of death)!

Isn't this a great way to reuse an old screen door and keep that vintage look to your area? Click the picture and check out this great website!

This website has A LOT of different ways to use suitcases!  Tables, beds for pets, ready for a picnic, craft storage!  I have one that I am hoping to make into my Hogwarts case!  That is if I ever get my letter, I think my owl is lost too...

These clipboards are great for inspiration!  I would love to have an inspiration wall full of them!  I made a couple of them when I was working in the SPED room.  It kept my notes clipped so I didn't loose them when I went room to room!

Vintage Paper (and Images) Thursday!

Today is all about the Vintage papers and images that will inspire you (I hope).  These will be different than the ones you find on the Facebook page today, so make sure you head over there for more links!  As always the pictures are not mine, I find them on the sites they are listed under and unfortunately I don't work for any of today's links.

On a side note-if you are loving, liking or just putting up with the blog, Facebook or Pinterest pages-LET ME KNOW!  If I don't get feed back I will hang up my social media hat and move on.  If there is something you would like to see changed or added-LET ME KNOW! Okay onto the fun stuffs...

As always Pinterest as a great selection on Vintage images!  Click on the pictures for the links.

Another great place to get images is the Graphic Fairy!  She also has Pinterest, so make sure you follow her board.  She has board just for her craft projects too.  Below is one of my favorites!
Make some cute Thumb Tacks with Mod Melts - The Graphics Fairy.

The next is one of my favorite places to go for vintage papers, stamps, supplies, add-ons, you name it they have it!  7 Gypsies is the place to go!

Here is their Facebook page, and their blog (Gypsies Journal), and their shop link is on the blog too!  I promise you wont be disappointed and you will find a lot to buy!  You can also find their things at Hobby Lobby and I am sure other select craft stores.  You can go get lost on their page after you see the last link for the day.  But, I promise you will get lost!  they have everything from DIYs to giveaways to sneak peeks.  Don't forget to go to Pinterest and do a search for them as you will find thousands of pins and boards showing just what you can do with their products!

You can get that Library Drawer over at Amazon (where I am an affiliate)!  If you follow that link it will take you to Amazon and all the things in the picture above are available (last I checked).

The Last link today is Tim Holtz!  If you haven't heard of him--you really should have!  Here is a link to his website,  to Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and his blog.  You can also find his products at Hobby Lobby and there is a store on his website!  He also has several books out you can find them on Amazon. Just a few are A Compendium of Curiosites, A Compendium of Curiosities II and III.

Quote of the Day and I am off to my kiddos 4th grade class.  If you don't I highly suggest volunteering in your child's classroom!  You will learn so much about your child and see the behavior of other kids that will make you love yours even more!

It's Monday-No wait, what?

So yesterday slipped away from me pretty quickly!

Since we missed out yesterday (I'm sooo sorry), make sure you head to the Facebook page and check out Monday's Mix-Up, I will update the Pinterest page today as well. Don't forget if it is listed here or on the Facebook page it will be on Pinterest if I can link it! This week we are looking at all things Upcycled and Vintage! As always the pictures were found on the websites listed and I do not own any of them!

First up is the Kiss Of Life blog and how she uses T-Shirts and crocheting to upcycle her old clothes!

Next up is The Flitter Knitter and this is just one of those websites that you need to sit down and look at with a cup of tea and some finger sandwiches and stay awhile!

The next is a cute Owl pillow cross stitching from What a Hoot!

What a Hoot Cross Stitch Pattern

Now we have a way for you to put those stitching skills to use.  Even those of you crazies that can use a sewing machine (some day I will learn)!  The Green Upgrader is a great place to find a ton of Upcycle projects!!  I wasn't able to pin this one to Pinterest so make sure you use the link!
